Blog 1- trash talking republican debates

Candidates running for president have been known for dirty scandals, and many false promises. It seems to be part of the job. But this presidential election has really caught my eye, mainly on the republican side. The candidates for the republican nominee have literally been trash talking each other at every debate. It could be the presence of newcomer Donald Trump, and the movement he is trying to start. But one person can't take all the blame. The trash talking between candidates has some people outraged, yet the ratings for these debates have never been higher. Somethings got to give.
When you think of the President of the United States you usually think of a well manored respectful man. Whether you are a liberal or a conservative the one thing we have in common is we want our president to make our country great again.  Not someone who I loud, brash, and on some issues a bully. But for the majority of this presidential election that is the position Donald Trump has held. He has started this new presidential movement where it is ok to say whatever you are feeling. Even if it might make some people uncomfortable. He has been harsh on  specific topics like illegal immigration and ISIS to name a couple. Most people would be alright if he was only harsh on his topic. But it doesn't end there with Donald Trump. Since these republican debates have been airing on television Trump has consistantly attacked his fellow competition on their appearance and where they stand on certain issues. The crazy part is Trump has been soaring to the top of the Republican Party. On Super Tuesday he won 9 states which some would call a blowout. It seems the more he talks the better he does. Trump consistantly attacked Jeb Bush on his glasses and on being a stiff. For Marco Rubio, Trump will only refer to him as "little guy" or a lightweight because he is a smaller man.  Trumps Twitter is filled with insulting tweets about his candidates, and he sends them early and often. The night before Super Tuesday Trump went on a spree of tweeting, one of them read " little Marco Rubio, the lightweight no show Senator from Florida is set to be the "puppet" for the special interest Koch brothers.... WATCH!!"(Twitter). These kind of tweets come early and often on his Twitter page. It seems his methods are very cut throat but now the other candidates are following him down a dark path. Nowadays a republican debate consists of Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz teaming up and attacking Trump together like he does to them. But what it ends up being is a 4th grade school fight because Trump won't keep his mouth shut if he hears something he might not like. Some people have said the debates make them feel uncomfortable, and think they are not appropriate. But what I don't understand is why the debates are getting record viewings and more people are voting then last election. Fox News held the last republican debate on Thursday. Today they released their ratings and showed over 16.8 million people viewed last nights debate. That alone is higher than any debate the democrats have had. In fact the republicans have had 5 debates that have scored higher ratings than the democrats tops debate. To me there is only two options. Either the American public is only watching to be entertained, or they really believe what they are hearing and support it, and from where Donald Trump is located  in the polls. Im starting to lean with option two.
In conclusion I know these republican candidates are doing all they can to win the nominee, but I believe they still have to keep in sight good morals. They have to understand that they have millions of people watching them. More importantly they have kids looking up to them and have to show them what America is all about. I think the republican candidates will figure it out but we will all have to wait and see until the next debate.
